Working on 1864

I have been working on 1864 and am slowly putting the thing together.  This one will feature not only generals from the last major year of the war, but also campaigns.  There will be special rules for generals moving around the board on a campaign, how to link them with battles, and will include the campaigns for the Atlanta and the Overland campaigns.

I also finished the cover when I built it for the talk at Celesticon.  Here it is:

The Battle of Bull Run / Manassas a Confederate Victory! (Originally posted July 24, 2011)

We had one player for each general for the Battle of Bull Run / Manassas at Game Empire at Pasadena, and it ended with a Confederate victory.  The Union first division pushed across Manassas Creek at the bridge and at the ford, while the second and third divisions pushed down from the north.  The Confederates lined up on Henry House Hill and challenged the Yankees to come at them, which they did.  Stuart's cavalry rushed past the Union far right flank and threatened some artillery emplacements.  They were chased off by the Union cavalry.  Stuart, leading the Confederate cavalry, fooled some of the Union soldiers to lay down their arms and surrender.  The rest charged and were shot down.  Meanwhile, the Yankee charge at the hill was repulsed by Beauregard's main army.

Above is the first group of people to play.  Everyone seemed to have a great time.  Thanks to all who participated!

Shawn Hendrix was the first person to buy a copy of the game, seen below.

The Battle of Bull Run / Manassas at Game Empire (Originally posted July 21, 2011)

Command Combat: Civil War will have its release party at Game Empire in Pasadena.  We will be playing the Battle of Bull Run / Manassas to commemorate the 150th anniversary of that battle which launched the American Civil War.  Play as the cautious McDowell, the stern "Stonewall" Jackson, the flamboyant JEB Stuart, one of the Union divisional generals, such as Tyler or Hunter, or one of the Confederate division generals, such as Johnston or Beauregard.  The game reflects the personalities of these generals.

The address for Game Empire is:

2302 E. Colorado Blvd.
Pasadena, CA 91107

The player who gets the most points will win a free copy of the game.
